St. Andrew’s Elementary School held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on its Addition & Renovation Project on Tuesday, May 2nd. Officials from the Catholic Diocese of Salina joined school teachers, staff, students, parents, and community members to celebrate
Fr. Peter expressed gratitude to the community for supporting this project. “You can tell this project is going to be successful by the love in this community,” Fr. Peter said. “When this project completes in 2024, it will provide the facilities needed to educate the community’s children well into the future.”
St. Andrew’s has raised $2.5 million to start this project. Once the Addition & Renovation is completed, the school will have three additional classrooms - one of which is a multi-purposed music room that functions as a safe room during a tornado warning, adequate library space, a renovated kitchen, additional restrooms, a renovated staff break room, and meeting space for individual student attention or small groups.
"This is a very exciting day for our school and our parish," Principal Chris Whitehair said. "We are so grateful for the fantastic support of our parish and community in helping us fulfill our dream of providing a safer and more efficient learning environment for many generations of children to come."

The School's Addition & Renovation project is funded through St. Andrew's Onward Capital Campaign. The goal is to provide St. Andrews and the Abilene community a greater capacity to minister and serve families by expanding the school’s footprint. The project will offer the community opportunities to create and deepen faith as we see the Body of Christ at work. It will provide more significant opportunities to connect the school and Parish through sacrificial giving. To help our community raise the final $500,000, please contact onwardsta@gmail.com or click here to donate.
